Fairfax, Virginia, July 23, 2021 – C&R Software, the global leader in collections software solutions, today announced it has signed a contract with the Ohio Attorney General’s Office (AGO) to enhance its ability to collect delinquent taxes, fees, and other monies owed to the State of Ohio and local governments throughout the State. The project, called the Collections Account Resolution & Enforcement System (CARES), will implement C&R Software’s leading collection solution, Debt Manager. The three-year contract is valued at $28.5M.
“While the rest of the world transacts business at light-speed, Ohio’s dinosaur of a collections system has kept us in the Stone Age,” said Ohio Attorney General Dave Yost. “I am happy to begin the evolution to a modern, respected system that will improve the experience for all parties involved.”
“We look forward to drawing on more than 35 years of experience offering our innovative, market-leading collections solution and industry expertise that has been successfully delivered across the United States and around the world,” said Ed Wallen, CEO, C&R Software. “Our elastic, open architecture offers rapid implementation, an enhanced customer experience for Ohio’s citizens and a lower total cost of ownership for the State and its taxpayers.”
The Ohio Attorney General’s Office acts as the centralized collection authority for the State and supports more than 400 unique clients, including state agencies, local governments, state universities and university medical centers. To achieve their goals, the AGO utilizes 82 external partner organizations which will utilize the new system directly or through data integrations. In Fiscal Year 2020, more than $10 billion in new receivables were referred to the AGO, which, despite COVID-19 hurdles, collected more than $447 million and took on more than 750,000 debt accounts, highlighting the importance of this program. The obligations collected from this program help fund many diverse and critical programs for the citizens of Ohio.
“C&R Software is excited to combine our significant collections expertise with our proven track record in both the government and commercial sectors to enhance the collections operations of our clients,” said Ted London, Senior Director, C&R Software. “Debt Manager will allow the Attorney General’s Office to greatly increase collections without adding additional staff, while simultaneously delivering enhanced service to their citizens and clients. C&R Software has a proven track record of successfully delivering collection solutions as well as providing thought leadership in collections management best practices, all of which deliver tremendous value to our clients.”
